A recent flood of Xiaomi SUV spy shots has given us our best idea yet of what the forthcoming new model will look like. Crucially, these have also given us our first glimpse of the interior of the SUV.
For the past few months, it’s been known that Xiaomi has switched its “inspiration” from Porsche to Ferrari for the new SUV, believed to be codenamed MX11. The more spy shots that emerge, the more the car looks like the Ferrari Purosangue. Pictures of the car testing show it next to an Audi A4 Avant. And we can see from those that despite the new Xiaomi being an SUV, it is only of a similar height to the Avant. It features a fastback coupe SUV design, with a sleek roofline that extends to the rear of the car, giving it a sporty stance.
Rather than being a real SUV, it is more of a crossover, and not only is it not very high, but also, the ground clearance is not high. From the front, the SUV seems similar to the Xiaomi SU7. The hood is raised at both sides, and high-spec versions have a roof-mounted Lidar unit. Spy shots taken in a parking lot show that the car occupies much of the parking space suggesting that it is quite long. However, the picture against the A4 Avant indicates that they are of similar length – the Audi has a length of 4762 mm.
From the spy shots, we can see that the car is equipped with yellow brake calipers, and the tailgate design appears to have a ducktail end.
Our first glance at the interior shows that although there are similarities to the SU7 sedan, there are also considerable differences. So far, the interior spy shots are of poor quality, but one thing that stands out is that we cannot see the instrument panel in the shots. This could mean that the panel is in a different location set further back into the dashboard than in the SU7. However, we see a similar large infotainment screen as in the sedan.
The center console has clear differences, with the buttons present on the SU7 no longer there. Instead, there appears to be a dual wireless mobile phone charging pad, followed by two drink holders and a split-opening cubbyhole.
Xiaomi’s SUV is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2025. It’s expected that the SUV will have a similar powertrain to that offered in the SU7 (see specs). This means that single-motor versions will use a 220 kW electric motor on the rear axle, providing peak torque of 400 Nm. Dual-motor versions will use a 220 kW electric motor with 338 Nm of torque on the front axle and a 275 kW electric motor with 500 Nm of torque on the rear axle. Higher-spec versions will have 800V architecture, which allows super-fast charging.
There are currently many renderings of what the Xiaomi SUV will look like under the camouflage, and we are reproducing some of these here. However, it should be noted that these are purely artist’s impressions at the moment, and we cannot be certain what the car will look like in reality.
