On October 12, GAC brand Trumpchi launched the superfast charging version of the E9 MPV. Although the E9, a PHEV MPV, first launched last year, the new version offers much better fast charging times and claims a 30-80% SoC charge can be done in around 8 minutes. There are three versions priced 322,800-392,800 yuan (44,650 – 54,300 USD) as follows:

The all-electric range of 136 km using CLTC or 106 km WLTC is the same as the existing version. What has changed is the fast charging time, which drops from the previous 30 minutes down to 8 minutes. This is thanks to the 25.5 kWh 4C battery a ternary lithium unit produced by Guangzhou Juwan.
As a PHEV, the powertrain is built around a 2.0T with 140 kW of power and peak torque of 330 Nm. There is also a front-mounted 134 kW electric motor with torque of 300 Nm. The combined system total is 274 kW and 630 Nm, respectively. The car has an acceleration time of 8.8 seconds. Transmission is a 2-speed hybrid dedicated DHT gearbox.
Externally, the new version seems nearly identical to the car already on sale. There is the imposing grille known as the Sky Shock Wing 2.0 grille, along with large figure 7-like light clusters. The car has dimensions of 5212, 1893, and 1823 mm (l/w/h), with a wheelbase of 3070 mm
Like the exterior, the interior seems largely unchanged. The driver gets a 12.3-inch instrument display, and there is a 14.6-inch infotainment screen. Top-spec models also get a 12.3-inch entertainment screen for the front passenger. The front seats have a 16-point massage function.
In the back the second row has two captain style seats which have a ‘zero gravity’ function allowing passengers to stretch out. These also gain the 16 point massage function and reportedly have increased shoulder height and improved lumbar support.
The Trumpchi E9 has a 2+2+3 seating arrangement. There is flip down roof mounted screen for rear passenger entertainment.
Various driving assistance features are available on the E9, including a memory parking function. There is also SDC electromagnetic suspension, where the damping force of the 4 shock absorbers and suspension is adjusted in real time to adapt the whole vehicle to different road surfaces using 4000 sets of data collected every second.
Deliveries are set to begin during the Guangzhou Auto Show which opens this week.
