Nio kicked off deliveries of the updated ET5 sedan and ET5 Touring estate. The company co-founder and CEO, William Li, handed over cars to the first group of owners. These electric vehicles are available for purchase at 228,000 yuan (31,650 USD) with a BaaS subscription.
The Nio ET5 electric sedan entered the Chinese market in September 2022. Its estate (station wagon) variant, called ET5 Touring, started sales in June 2023. The cumulative sales volume of these models reached 170,153 units, according to China EV DataTracker. On May 25, 2025, Nio launched the long-anticipated refreshed ET5 and ET5 Touring. Actual deliveries of these cars started on May 27.
On May 27, Nio co-founder and CEO William Li participated in a delivery ceremony of the first batch of refreshed ET5 and ET5 Touring to owners. It was held in Hefei, Anhui province. The Nio manufacturing plant is located in this city, which explains why the first cars reached their owners here but not in Shanghai, where the Nio headquarters are situated. William Lee also handed over personally signed letters to the owners.
Refreshed ET5 and ET5 Touring have a slightly redesigned front end with “double-dash” LED running lights, ADB multi-beam headlights, and a sculpted bonnet. The 2025 model year ET5 sedan boasts a new purple body shade, while the ET5 Touring offers a new silver color. Inside, both models got a horizontally aligned 15.6-inch screen, new interior themes, a digital rearview mirror, and a gear shifter behind the wheel.
Updated ET5 and ET5 Touring also boast the in-house developed NX9031 chip that powers 29 smart driving sensors, including a 300-line equivalent LiDAR. Another highlight of this vehicle is an optional AC charging port. Previously, the ET5 and the ET5 Touring were available with a DC fast charging port only. Many users found it inconvenient. The final upgrade of the model is the CDC continuous damping system that helps to enhance both the comfort and sportiness of these cars, depending on settings.
The Nio ET5 and the ET5 Touring have the same dimensions of 4790/1960/1499 mm and a wheelbase of 2,888 mm. Their powertrain is also similar. It comes standard with a dual-motor 4WD system for 360 kW (482 hp) and 700 Nm. Customers can buy the ET5 & the ET5 Touring with two battery options: 75 kW and 100 kWh. A 150 kWh semi-solid-state battery is available as a part of the BaaS (Battery as a Service) subscription, providing up to 1,055 km of CLTC range.
The Nio ET5 and the ET5 Touring have a price range of 298,000 – 356,000 yuan (41,350 – 49,400 USD) with a battery included. Customers in China can also buy these vehicles without a battery for 228,000 yuan (31,650 USD). At the given moment, the battery subscription costs 728 yuan (101 USD) per month for a 75 kWh battery and 1,128 yuan (157 USD) per month for a 100 kWh pack.
It is worth mentioning that the Nio ET5 and the ET5 Touring are seemingly more expensive than their direct rivals. For clarity, the Zeekr 007 GT electric estate costs 202,900 – 262,900 yuan (28,150 – 36,500 USD) in China. Moreover, the top-trim Zeekr 007 GT features air suspension, whereas the ET5 Touring offers only a CDC system. The recently launched Avatr 06 sedan is priced between 194,900 – 264,900 yuan (27,050 – 36,770 USD).
