Geely launched Radar King Kong EM-P pickup – to go overseas as Riddara RD6 EM-P

Geely launched the Radar King Kong EM-P pickup truck in China with a starting price of 139,800 yuan (19,400 USD). It offers a dual-motor 4WD for 260 kW (349 hp), 1,068 km of mixed range, and a bearing capacity of up to 1,000 kg. This model will enter overseas markets as the Riddara RD6 EM-P.

Radar was created as an independent brand under the Geely Group in 2022. Its model line comprised a single model, the RD6 electric pickup truck, for over two continuous years. In December 2024, Geely re-launched the RD6 in China as the Radar King Kong. This model sells overseas as the Riddara RD6. On May 28, Geely launched the long-anticipated plug-in hybrid variant of this truck. Its domestic name is Radar King Kong EM-P. However, this model will enter global markets as the Riddara RD6 EM-P.

More about the Radar King Kong EM-P

The exterior of the Radar King Kong EM-P aligns with its previously launched BEV sibling. It has blocky headlights with a glossy trim between them. The RD6 also boasts a minimalistic front bumper with two air intakes on the sides and one trapeze-shaped air intake in the middle. The Radar King Kong EM-P with a standard wheelbase boasts dimensions of 5260/1900/1865 mm. The wheelbase is 3,120 mm. And the long-wheelbase (3,310 mm) variant of this pickup truck has a length of 5,500 mm.

The Radar King Kong EM-P has a peak bearing capacity of 1,000 kg. This vehicle stands on the MAP modular architecture that derives from the SEA platform. The body structure of the King Kong EM-P boasts a 70% utilization rate of high-strength steel. Its torsional rigidity reaches 30,300 Nm. The Radar King Kong EM-P has a five-seat interior with a 14.6-inch touchscreen in the center console. The car also adopts a 10.2-inch LCD instrument panel.

Radar King Kong EM-P powertrain

The major feature of the Radar King Kong EM-P is its powertrain. This car has a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a thermal efficiency of 44.26%. It is paired with a 3DHT gearbox and two electric motors. The combined peak power output of this system reaches 260 kW (349 hp) with a torque of 914 Nm. This vehicle’s zero-to-hundred acceleration is 6.3 seconds. With full load, the King Kong EM-P speeds up to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds.

The King Kong EM-P’s 4WD system has a response time of 20 ms. The car boasts four off-road modes: snow, mud, off-road, and sand. The unloaded pickup truck can drive up the 45-degree hill. With a full load, it can drive up a 33-degree hill. Its turning radius is 6.1 meters. The Radar King Kong EM-P has a fuel consumption of 1.5 liters per 100 km. With a drained battery, its consumption reaches 6.4 L/100km.

The Radar King Kong EM-P adopts a 19.09 kWh LFP battery pack, suitable for an electric range of 100 km under CLTC conditions. Thanks to a 60-liter fuel tank, this PHEV can drive up to 1,068 km in a hybrid mode. The car supports the V2L function with a power of 3.3 kW. It can also act as a mobile charging station, supplying up to 21 kW in a V2V mode.

The Radar King Kong EM-P is available for order in three trim levels. Prices are as follows:

  • Radar King Kong EM-P 1000km Standard Bed – 139,800 yuan (19,400 USD)
  • Radar King Kong EM-P All-Round Long Bed – 149,800 yuan (20,800 USD)
  • Radar King Kong EM-P Intelligent Long Bed – 159,800 yuan (22,200 USD)
