The 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Auto Show (Greater Bay Auto Show in short) has officially opened at the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center and will run from May 31 to June 8. Following the Shanghai Auto Show, this event features several key unveilings. Among the most notable are the Xiaomi YU7 crossover SUV, the Maextro S800 flagship sedan from Harmony Intelligent Mobility, and the updated Yangwang U8L luxury SUV. The 2024 Greater Bay Auto Show recorded an audience of over 300,000.

Xiaomi YU7: a sporty electric SUV with a futuristic touch

The Xiaomi YU7 debuted as a mid-to-large-size pure electric SUV, adopting a sleek, coupe-inspired silhouette and a design language closely aligned with the SU7 sedan. Its standout features include frameless side mirrors, halo-style taillights, a ducktail rear spoiler, and signature “waterdrop” headlights. With dimensions of 4,999 mm in length and a 3,000 mm wheelbase, it emphasises aerodynamic performance through 10 active air ducts and 19 vents. A roof-mounted LiDAR supports its intelligent driving capabilities.

Inside, the YU7 features a 16.1-inch 3K central display, two rear extension screens, and the new “Xiaomi HyperVision” panoramic HUD system, which projects information onto the windshield across a 1.1-meter ultra-wide field of view. Zero-gravity front seats and 135° reclining rear seats ensure comfort, with three interior colour themes available.

The entire lineup uses Nvidia’s Thor U chip (700 TOPS) and 4D millimeter-wave radar. Powertrain options include a rear-wheel-drive base model and two AWD versions, all utilizing Xiaomi’s V6s Plus electric motors. The top AWD version offers 690 hp, a 0–100 km/h sprint in 3.23 seconds, and a 253 km/h top speed. Battery capacities range from 96.3 to 101.7 kWh, with up to 835 km CLTC range and 620 km range recovered in 15 minutes of fast charging.

Maextro S800: flagship luxury with Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility DNA

The Maextro S800 launched last night and is making its appearance at the Greater Bay Auto Show. It is Harmony Intelligent Mobility’s first flagship sedan. It is 5,480 mm long and built for luxury and chauffeur-driven use. It offers pure electric and range-extended versions, differentiated by grille styling.

Highlights include “Star River” LED lighting, retractable door handles, and a low aerodynamic drag of 0.206 cd. The cabin features a triple-screen setup, HUD, and HarmonyOS-powered UI. Rear occupants benefit from ambient lighting, a projection screen, folding trays, a cooled compartment, and a detachable door handle that controls climate, massage, and privacy features.

A central rear console houses fingerprint-secured storage, cupholders with thermal control, and a makeup mirror. Acoustic insulation, RNC active noise cancellation, and a dual-zone isolation setup ensure cabin quietness. Underpinned by the “Xuanwu” architecture, the S800 integrates 13 airbags, multi-stage door locks, dual-chamber air suspension, and four-wheel steering.

The EV version rides on an 800V platform with a 97 kWh battery and 702 km CLTC range, charging 10–80% in 12 minutes. The REEV variant combines a 65 kWh battery and an 80 kW generator, achieving a 1,333 km range. Performance includes a 0–100 km/h time of 4.3 seconds for dual-motor EVs and 4.7 seconds for triple-motor EREVs.

At 5,400 mm long, the U8L stands out with its obsidian black body colour, gold Oracle Bone script logo, body-coloured wheel arch trim, and massive 23-inch forged wheels with floating centre caps. A sleeker tail design replaces the U8’s external spare tyre with a split-opening electric tailgate.

It supports signature off-road features like tank turns, water floating, tyre blowout stabilisation, the “Divine Eye A” triple-LiDAR intelligent driving suite, and the DiSus-P hydraulic suspension. A formal market launch is expected in the second half of 2025.
