Huawei’s first station wagon was spotted in China during road tests. It is the estate variant of the previously launched Stelato S9 sedan jointly made by BAIC and the mentioned IT giant. The new model will enter the market this year in a bold move to enhance the brand’s market share.
Stelato is a joint project between Huawei and BAIC. It entered the Chinese market last year with the Stelato S9 sedan as the launch car. The two parties aimed to sell around 120,000 units of Stelato S9 annually.

However, this model turned into a flop with cumulative sales of 8,911 units from October 2024 to May 2025 (according to China EV DataTracker). Previously, Stelato launched the cheaper EREV variant of the S9 sedan. Soon, it will also introduce the station wagon variant of this car. It will become the first estate (kombi) from Huawei.
Stelato S9 wagon’s latest spy shots
The population of station wagons in China continued to grow, along with the trend towards NEVs. These cars turned into a more practical alternative to sedans. On the other hand, estates have more range than bulky crossovers due to sleek body shapes. A lot of automakers introduced their models in this segment, including Zeekr (001, 007 GT), Nio (ET5 Touring), BYD (Denza Z9 GT), etc.

Huawei also wanted to jump into this segment with their product. Therefore, the company initiated the development process of the station wagon variant of the Stelato S9 sedan. It was earlier spotted on a car carrier in China. On June 15, this sleek estate was seen in the wild. It revealed the interior for the first time.

The Stelato S9 wagon’s exterior styling aligns with its sedan sibling. The front end of the new model adopts sharp headlights and a trapeze-shaped air intake. A sloped bonnet and slanted A-pillars create a streamlined outline of this vehicle. A sleek roofline helps reduce the drag coefficient. Other features of the S9 wagon are hidden door handles, frameless side-view mirrors, and multi-spoke wheels.
The Stelato S9 will likely adopt the latest Huawei ADS 4.0 driver’s assistance system. The car has a built-in 192-line LiDAR sensor on the roof. This system supports summoning and intelligent remote parking functionalities with hand gestures, such as waving.

The interior of the S9 wagon also stays in line with the sedan variant. There is a large 15.6-inch floating screen and an LCD instrument panel in the center console. The gear shifter sits behind the three-spoke D-shaped steering wheel. The Stelato S9 wagon’s center tunnel has two wireless charging pads and a hidden compartment with two cup holders.
Stelato S9 wagon specs
The Stelato S9 wagon’s specs have yet to be revealed. However, it will likely align with the sedan model. The latter boasts dimensions of 5160/2005/1486 mm. The wheelbase reaches 3,050 mm. The BEV variant of the Stalato S9 sedan offers RWD for 227 kW (304 hp) or 4WD for 385 kW (516 hp). It adopts the CATL-made 100-kWh battery for 721 – 816 km of CLTC range.

The EREV variant of the Stelato S9 is available only with a single electric motor in the rear axle for 227 kW. The entry-level model is powered by a 37 kWh LFP pack for 256 km of electric CLTC range. More expensive trims offer a ternary NMC battery for 53.4 kWh and an electric range of 365 km (CLTC). Under the hood, the Stelato S9 EREV has a 1.5-liter engine for 118 kW (158 hp). Thanks to a 52-liter fuel tank, the mixed range of this model reaches 1,355 km.
The Stelato S9 sedan costs 309,800 – 449,800 yuan (43,190 – 62,700 USD) in China. It is quite an expensive car, judging by the standards of the domestic market. For clarity, the top-trim Zeekr 001 estate with 777 hp and a 100 kWh battery costs 329,000 yuan (45,860 USD).
