The Voyah Free+ new energy SUV started presales in China with a starting price of 229,900 yuan (32,020 USD) and loads of Huawei tech on board. It boasts Huawei’s AR-HUD and the ADS 4 driver’s assistance system. The Voyah Free+ offers EREV and BEV powertrain variants.
The Free crossover became the first model under Dongfeng’s high-end brand Voyah in June 2021. This model sold 67,022 units domestically in four years, according to China EV DataTracker. On June 24, 2025, Voyah kicked off presales of the new Free SUV. To underline the significance of this update, Voyah added a “+” sign to the Free’s name.
More about Voyah Free+
The Voyah Free+ has a seemingly redesigned exterior styling. Its front end became smoother with a closed front end and a minimalistic bumper. The car adopts new rims, a LiDAR on the roof, retractable door handles, and a single taillight unit. It also has an interactive ISD element between headlights. However, a considerable group of Chinese car enthusiasts shared that the new Voyah Free+ looks too plain compared to the previous model.

The new Voyah Free+ is a large crossover with dimensions of 4915/1960/1660 mm. The wheelbase reaches 2,960 mm. We listed some of the Dongfeng’s high-end SUV core rivals’ dimensions below:
- Li Auto L6: 4925/1960/1735 mm
- Wey 05: 4870/1960/1690 mm
- Denza N7: 4860/1935/1620 mm
- Avatr 07:4825/1980/1620 mm
- Lynk & Co 08: 4820/1915/1685 mm
The interior of the Voyah Free+ was seemingly adjusted. Its center console has a single 15.6-inch touchscreen powered by Harmony OS 5. This infotainment system is similar to other cars developed jointly with Huawei, including the Aito, Luxeed, Maextro, and Stelato models. The Free+ has a small LCD instrument panel and a gear shifter behind the D-shaped steering wheel. Another highlight of this vehicle is a 29-inch augmented-reality head-up display from Huawei.

The Voyah Free+ has two wireless phone charging pads, a voice assistant, and 22 Voayh Sound speakers. This model offers a 7-liter storage box with heating and cooling functions. The front passenger seat of the Voyah Free+ boasts an 8-point massage. The second-row seats of this vehicle could be adjusted by 27 degrees. The car provides a three-zone climate control and a 1.78 square meter sunroof.
The Free+ also has the Huawei Qiankun ADS 4 driving assistance system that supports the cross-level parking valet function with automatic ramps, uphill, downhill, and curve recognition.
Voyah Free+ powertrain & chassis
The new Voyah Free+ will be available with EREV and BEV powertrain variants. The range-extended variant of this car has a 1.5-liter petrol engine for 95 kW (127 hp). Its entry-level variant has a single electric motor in the rear axle for 215 kW (288 hp). There is also a 4WD modification of the Free+ that adds a 135 kW (181 hp) e-motor in the front axle. The combined power output of this system reaches 350 kW (469 hp). An LFP battery for 43.2 kWh powers this system, providing 196 – 235 km of EV range.

There is no information about the powertrain of the electric Voyah Free+. However, we know that the BEV model has two battery options for 78.8 kWh and 81.6 kWh. Its range lies between 600 – 650 km under CLTC conditions.
During the presales ceremony, Voyah officials shared that the Free+ speeds up to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. The car has four-piston brake calipers, a full-aluminum chassis, and a double-wishbone independent suspension in the front axle. Another benefit of this model is an air suspension. It can adjust the car’s ground clearance by 100 mm.
The Voyah Free+ became available for order with a starting price of 229,900 yuan (32,020 USD). This model became a vivid symbol of the intense competition in China. Because its predecessor was launched with a starting price of 313,600 yuan (43,680 USD) four years ago, and even with such a competitive price tag, the new Free+ will face fierce competition in the large SUV segment. However, this model has already got 5,000 orders in one hour.
