This is IM Motors’ full-sized EREV SUV. The official launch is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. The new car was spied earlier in June in China. Once launched, it will compete directly with the Li L9 and Denza N9.

IM Motors is a joint venture between SAIC and Alibaba. Currently, the joint venture sells the IM L6, LS6, LS7, and L7 on the market.

As a 6-seater SUV, the IM LS9 measures 5279/2000/1806 mm, with a 3160 mm wheelbase and a 2,695 kg curb weight, adopting a 2+2+2 layout. The tire specifications include 255/50 R20, 265/45 R21, and HL265/40 R22 for consumers to choose from, according to the Chinese MIIT.

Immediately following the exposure by the Chinese MIIT, IM Motors released the official images of the IM LS9. The closed front face is matched with multiple raised ribs on the front engine hood, dotted T-shaped light groups, and a through-type light strip that extends across. Chrome trims are applied throughout the exterior including the front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and lower window frames. Hidden door handles, a sunroof, and a roof lidar are present. The intelligent driving solution is expected to be provided by Momenta.

An optional half steering wheel is also available for consumers to choose from.

Power will come from a 1.5T engine (model 15FNE) as the range extender with a maximum power of 114 kW (153 hp), paired with front and rear dual electric motors with a maximum power of 160 kW (215 hp) and 230 kW (308 hp), respectively. The top speed is 220 km/h.

At the same time, the IM LS9 is reportedly to be equipped with CATL’s Freevoy battery that can provide up to 450 km of pure electric cruising range and IM Motors’ third-generation X-by-Wire technology that can realize front and rear steering as well as four wheel vector power control.
