IM L7 revised model to launch on 24 February 2024

IM Motors will launch the revised model of IM L7 on February 24. Display models have started arriving at dealerships. This model has undergone subtle exterior adjustments of an increase of 10 mm in body length.

The new IM L7 adopts the Nvidia Orin X chip, which leads to an increase of computational power by nearly eightfold. The two front surround-view cameras have seen an increase in pixel count from 5 million to 8 million, coupled with the addition of a laser radar, enabling the IM L7 with Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) capability. The IM Intelligent Driving NOA system is currently available across Mainland China. It has been deployed in major urban areas of Shanghai. Expansion of the IM Intelligent Driving NOA system for the entire nation is planned for this year.

In terms of interior aesthetics, the updated L7 adopts a design of the LS6, featuring a narrow border continuous screen. It also features such as leather seats, a 22-speaker entertainment system, and dual-layer soundproof glass will be offered. The leather-wrapped center console incorporates 50W wireless charging. Window controls have reverted to physical buttons. Both front and rear seats are equipped with electric leg support. The rear seats have increased by 30 mm, now providing over 1 meter of rear legroom. Not only do the rear seats now recline at 10° (electronically adjusted) but they are also ventilated with shoulder and lumbar massage functions.

The new L7 continues to operate on 400V with three power options. The single-motor version offers 231 kW. The mid-spec version offers 250 kW. Both models can travel at a maximum speed of 200 km/h. The top-spec four-wheel-drive version features one permanent magnet synchronous motor on each front and rear axle, boasting a total peak power of 425 kW which weighs 2290 kg. According to the manufacturer, the new car offers a choice between a 71.2 kWh or 90 kWh lithium battery pack. Driving range under standard conditions ranging from 570 km to 708 km.

IM Motors Technology Co., Ltd. was officially registered on December 25, 2020, with a registered capital of 10 billion RMB. It is the collaboration of SAIC Motor Corporation Group, Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, and Alibaba Group which is aimed at rivaling the likes of Tesla.

In December, IM Motors’ monthly sales surpassed 10,000 units for the first time. The cumulative sales for 2023 reached 38,253 units, reflecting a remarkable year-over-year growth of 665%. And still, it is far behind its main rivals. Tesla sold over 645,000 units in China in 2023; Xpeng delivered over 121,000 cars; and Nio sold over 160,000 EVs.
