The 21st Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition opened today. Chery Group showcased 53 models from its five brands—Chery, Exeed, Jetour, iCAR, and Luxeed—reflecting the company’s expanding presence in both domestic and international markets.
Powertrain variety and model highlights
Chery revealed 16 models from its core brand. These included the redesigned QQ compact electric vehicle, the Fengyun A9 sedan—reportedly receiving over 53,000 pre-orders within 35 days—and the Tiggo 9L concept SUV. The lineup covers internal combustion engines, hybrids, and battery-electric vehicles.
Exeed introduced the 2025 Exlantix ES electric sedan. Jetour introduced the Traveller ‘Interstellar Guardian’, designed for off-road use. iCAR unveiled new colour options for its V23, along with pickup and convertible concept models.
Company performance and brand development
Chery reported global vehicle sales of 620,000 units in the first quarter, with 255,000 exported. According to the 2024 Hurun Brand List, the company’s brand value is estimated at 250 billion yuan (approximately 3.45 billion USD), ranking 45th nationwide and entering the top three among Chinese car manufacturers globally.
Chairman Yin Tongyue outlined Chery’s focus on four key areas: electrification, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and globalisation. This includes new battery and motor technologies, intelligent driving systems, and sustainable materials. Over 5,000 international guests were invited to the show.
Executive Vice President Li Xueyong emphasised the company’s aim to compete through technical standards and safety features.
New vehicles and technology directions
The updated QQ electric vehicle incorporates personalisation features and user-driven development initiatives. The Fengyun A9 sedan includes a high-performance variant with 0-100 km/h acceleration in four seconds and a four-seat version with upgraded rear seating and a cooling compartment. The Tiggo 9L SUV features AI-based chassis systems and a three-row layout.
Advanced concepts
Chery also exhibited its Kunpeng hybrid system, the amphibious Jetour G900, and flying vehicle prototypes. For 22 consecutive years, Chery has been one of China’s top automotive exporters. With over 16 million vehicles sold globally—4.7 million overseas—the company is now tailoring products for specific international markets.
