BYD has officially released the Sealion 07 DM-i, a mid-sized SUV priced between 169,800 and 205,800 yuan (approximately 23,500 to 28,500 USD). Positioned to compete with models like the Tesla Model Y, Li Auto L6, and Toyota Highlander, it combines plug-in hybrid power with a wide range of standard and optional features.

The Sealion 07 DM-i comes in three trims:

  • 150 Pilot edition – 169,800 yuan (23,500 USD)
  • 150 Pilot plus edition – 179,800 yuan (24,900 USD)
  • 135 Performance radar edition – 205,800 yuan (28,483 USD)

All models feature BYD’s fifth-gen DM hybrid system, offering a CLTC pure-electric range of up to 150 km and a combined range of 1,320 km on a full tank and charge. The SUV also boasts an impressively low NEDC fuel consumption of just 4.7L/100km in hybrid mode.

An optional “Ling Yuan” in-car drone system is available across all versions. Driver assistance is handled by the DiPilot system, available in two versions: DiPilot 100 (triple-camera setup) and DiPilot 300 (laser radar). Functions include navigation assistance, lane change support, and parking assistance, with the latter claiming a 90% success rate in urban environments.

Inside, the Sealion 07 DM-i features a 26-inch AR head-up display and a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen running the DiLink 100 system. The interior also includes 10-point massage front seats, a dual-zone refrigerator (cooling to -6°C and heating to 50°C), and a 12-speaker Dynaudio audio system. The cabin uses a BYD design theme called “Glacier World.”

Power comes from a 1.5T hybrid engine paired with two electric motors (200 kW front, 150 kW rear), enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of over 200 km/h. The vehicle uses BYD’s Yun-C damping control system and supports 53 kW DC fast charging.

The SUV measures 4,880 mm in length and has a 2,820 mm wheelbase. The exterior design includes e-shaped LED lights and a sloping roofline. The trunk capacity is rated at 645 litres.

Editor’s comment:

With pricing below many premium competitors and an extensive features list, the Sealion 07 DM-i is aimed at buyers seeking a hybrid SUV with long-range and modern tech. The model is currently on sale in China, with plans for future availability in Southeast Asia, Europe, and Australia. Based on its specifications and market positioning, analysts anticipate a strong reception.
