Tesla announced minor updates to the Long-range AWD Model 3 sedan in China, adding 40 km of range and increasing 0-100 km/h acceleration from 4.4 seconds to 3.8 seconds. The price rose by 10,000 yuan (1,400 USD) to 285,500 yuan (39,900 USD).

Additionally, Tesla increases the range of the AWD Long-range Model Y SUV by 40 km CLTC, without changing the price.

The CLTC range of the Model 3 sedan was increased from 713 km to 753 km, while the battery capacity remained unchanged. The 0-100km/h acceleration was increased to 3.8 seconds, most likely by making the optional Sports acceleration mode (also known as the Acceleration Boost package) the default. The Sports acceleration mode was priced at 14,100 yuan (2,000 USD) in China.

Meanwhile, the Model 3 Long-range AWD estimated delivery time, as shown in the Tesla app, dropped from the previous 3-5 weeks to 1-3 weeks.

Tesla sells three trims of the Model 3 in China:

  • RWD (Rear-wheel drive): 235,500 yuan (634 km CLTC range)
  • Long-range AWD (All-wheel drive): 285,500 yuan (753 km CLTC range)
  • Performance AWD: 339,500 yuan (623 km CLTC range, waiting time 8-10 weeks)

Tesla also extended the range of its all-wheel drive Long-range Model Y SUV from 719 km to 750 km, under CLTC conditions. The price remains unchanged at 313,500 yuan (43,800 USD).

Tesla sells only two variants of the Model Y in China:

  • RWD: 263,500 yuan (36,740 USD), 593 km CLTC
  • Long-range AWD: 313,500 yuan (43,710 USD), 750 km CLTC

Delivery times for both variants are 1-3 weeks.

Tesla is rumoured to launch a three-row 7-seater variant of Model Y with an extended wheelbase in China this year.

The sales of Model Y will come under more pressure in the second half of the year, as the Xiaomi YU7 SUV was launched last week, getting 200,000 pre-orders in three minutes. The current waiting time for YU7 Standard is 57-60 weeks.
