Xiaomi YU7 GT spotted on streets: a 990-hp performance SUV ready for launch
Recent sightings of the Xiaomi YU7 GT in a striking “Cherry Red” (Burgundy) have surfaced online, revealing the full exterior of the high-performance crossover as units begin to accumulate at the factory. The vehicle is scheduled to make its official debut in late May, positioned as a “sports car-level SUV for travel.”
Design and Exterior Features
The YU7 GT maintains the signature long-hood silhouette of the standard YU7 but introduces several exclusive performance elements. The front bumper has been redesigned with a more aggressive splitter, and the front fenders are noticeably wider to accommodate a more muscular wide-body stance.
Key exterior highlights include:
- Aerodynamics: The vehicle features 10 sets of through-air channels, a large rear diffuser, and a rear spoiler with a central protrusion, likely housing new sensors for advanced driving assistance.
- Wheels and Brakes: It rides on 21-inch wheels and is equipped with red brake callipers, expected to be paired with carbon-ceramic discs.
Dimensions and positioning
The Xiaomi YU7 GT is a mid-to-large SUV with the following dimensions:

Xiaomi officials clarified that the “GT” (Grand Tourer) designation was chosen over “Ultra” to emphasise a balance between high performance and long-distance comfort. While the SU7 Ultra is a track-focused beast, the YU7 GT aims to provide a luxury travel experience without sacrificing speed.
Powertrain and performance
The YU7 GT is powered by a dual-motor system featuring a front motor from Inovance and a self-developed rear motor from Xiaomi.

The vehicle is equipped with a 101.7 kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC range of 705 km. The crossover also features air suspension, rear axle torque vectoring, and Brembo-branded components.
Customization options
According to regulatory filings, buyers can customise their YU7 GT with various options, including different headlight decorations, side mirrors, rear spoilers, hood ornaments, and multiple wheel styles and calliper colours.
The Cherry Red units spotted at the factory are expected to be dispatched to Xiaomi Auto showrooms across China shortly for display purposes.
The Xiaomi YU7 was launched last June and secured 200,000 orders in a short space of time, with sales peaking at 39,089 units last December. After its massive backlog of pre-orders was cleared, it sold only 13,558 units this March – a figure higher only than the production levels of last June and July, before its manufacturing capacity had fully ramped up.
