The Smart ForSpeed is an electric concept car that debuted on the 2011 Geneva Auto Show, but no matter how cool it loox it will likely remain just another funny idea. China, moves faster! A toy maker from Zhejiang Province has developed a fine toy car for children based on the ForSpeed’s design. It is called ‘Happy Ding’, seats two and it is electric powered. Smart better take note!
The real thing.
Details on the Happy Ding are very good. Check those lights, they flash in different colors, the Smart ForSpeed didn’t have that stuff. Specs! 6V 20W electric motor, good for a 4km/h top speed. Charging takes 8 to 12 hours on 220V. Price for all this pretty: only 650 yuan, or 102 USD. For comparison, Smart said the ForSpeed could do 120km/h, but that has never been proven, and I seriously doubt there was any engine in the concept car. Furthermore, a production ForSpeed would cost at least 25.000 USD. The Happy Ding is therefore a much better deal, and very real.
Electric Drive! German license plate very neat. 8 is a lucky number in China. Rear lights van flash in different colors too.
Dash very good, sporty dials and such. Best thing; the steering wheel doubles as a music player with five pre-programmed songs.
If white is too boring. Check alloys, just like on the concept. Different stickers on the door here. The white one has ‘Sport Option’, the red car ‘Drive Hard’, which is better.
Green is even better, like trees and happy green penguins. Sticker is so so: ‘Speed Sport’.
Via: Taobao, and don’t think I found out about the ForSpeed, nope, the factory is advertising with it! How shameless they are…
