Official Photos of the new Ford Escort for the Chinese car market

Ford has released the first official photos of the new Ford Escort for the Chinese car market. The new Escort debuted in April on the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. Earlier on we heard the Escort would hit the market in Q4. However, the latest reports in Chinese media indicate launch has been postponed to January 2015.

The Ford Escort is manufactured in China by the Changan-Ford joint venture. Price will range from 90.000 to 120.000 yuan. Power comes from a 1.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 110hp and 140nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. Size: 4586/1820/1487mm, wheelbase is 2687.

The new Ford Escort is based on the current China-made Ford Focus Classic, which is a slightly dressed up second generation Ford Focus standing on the Ford C1 platform. The Ford Escort will technically replace the Classic, and positioned under the current third generation Ford Focus. The Chinese name is ‘Furuisi’ (福睿斯).
