The facelifted Opel Antara will hit the Chinese market in May. It will be an import and therefore expensive, price will range from around 300.000 to 350.000 yuan. Opel is a small player in China, it does not produce locally and imports the Astra sedan, Astra hatchback, Astra twintop (really) and the old Antara.

The Astra is also sold in China as the Buick Excelle and the Opel Insigina as the Buick Regal, the Regal and Excelle are both made locally at the Shanghai-GM joint venture.

Due to its high price the Antera will unlikely be a great succes. Renault though pulled it of with the imported Koleos, made in South Korea just as the Antera. Interestingly Opel China shows the Opel Ampera on its website, is GM considering importing the Ampera next to the Volt?
