It has been a long time since we have heard from the BYD Su Rui, a compact sedan that became world famous when it was launched in 2012 because it can be remote controlled, from the outside. Sadly sales have been slow, undercut by the cheaper BYD F3 where it is based on, and overshadowed by the manic BYD Qin hybrid. But there is some news now that might improve sales just a bit, or more.

Form the third quarter on the BYD Su Rui will be available with a brand new BYD developed 1.2 liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. Output is 122hp and 180nm. Two transmissions: 6-speed manual or 6-speed DCT. The new engine will replace the current 109hp 1.5. The 154hp 1.5 turbo will continue. Price for the BYD Su Rui 1.2T is expected to start around 70.000 yuan.
