Chery will base five new cars on their new T1X modular platform, which was developed with assistance from Jaguar Land Rovers, partner in the Chery-JLR joint venture. The T1X platform can support various body styles and engine configurations. The only fixed asset is the steering wheel-front axle ensemble. Everything else, including wheelbase and rear overhang, is variable.

It will be followed by a coupe version of the Tiggo 7, a larger seven-seat SUV (likely to be called Tiggo 9), a PHEV with a yet unknown body style, and a seven-seat MPV. All these cars will be launched before 2020. The new cars will mainly use turbocharged engines but Chery will retain the long serving naturally aspirated 2.0.
