In a bid to court luxury car buyers in China, Buick will introduce a new luxury line of vehicles under the Avenir name. The first car to carry the new name is the Buick GL8 Avenir. Next up for Avenir are the Envision SUV and the new LaCrosse sedan.

The GL8 Avenir is basically an extra luxurious variant of the Buick GL8 minivan, made in China by the Shanghai-GM joint venture. The updates to turn the GL8 into the GL8 Avenir include:
