Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO, started the presentation by welcoming its competitors, William Li, CEO of Nio, He Xiaopeng, chairman of Xpeng, and Li Xiang, CEO of Li Auto, who were in the audience. “They all gave us many suggestions in the past years to avoid traps on the road during the EV development,” Jun expressed gratitude.

Moreover, former BMW Group Chief of Design Chris Bangle appeared on stage praising the SU7. Xiaomi introduced him as one of the world’s top ten most famous car designers, as he was responsible for group brands BMW, Mini, and Rolls Royce. Now, he works as a Xiaomi Auto Design consultant.

“What impressed me is how powerful the SU7 is. It felt like a rocket horse. It would be a great car to have in Europe,” concluded Bangle in his short presentation.

It is no surprise that a BMW veteran joined Xiaomi Auto, as the SU7 is designed by the team around Li Tianyuan, Xiaomi’s Head of Design. He joined the company from BMW, where he was responsible for the BMW i Vision Circular concept, BMW iX, and the new 7 series.

Moreover, the exterior designer is James Qiu, who joined Xiaomi from Mercedes-Benz, where he took care of Vision EQXX design.

  1. So… the plastic car has finally arrived…. booring…. sales will be poor!

Went to a XiaoMe shop today to have a look at it and I was not impressed.

Also everybody will know how cheap this car is… so real luxury car owners will just laugh about this wanna be whatever thing because they all know: SU7 owners are too poor to afford a real luxury car.

I prefer buying a NIO et5 or Li Auto instead.

  3. This car is a competitor to the Taycan and not to the Model3 or ET5!

  4. Please Xiaomi, give us the exactly same car – Pro (min. 94.3 kWh CATL new Shenxing battery) – with stationcar (combi/herregardsvagn/caravan) design like Zeekr 001 and Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo – with practical lift, back door. And towing package opportunity approx. 1600 – 2400 kilo.

Please don’t change anything else on the car, only the rear end. Same cost of production?!

Then – start export to Europe – ASAP!
    Thank you. Guaranteed 100% success.
