The Brilliance A3 SUV was scheduled to debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in May but did not appear, reportedly because of pressure from joint venture partner BMW that thought it looked too much like the X1. Brilliance however has not given up on its SUV, it was seen testing again and it seems to look exactly the same as on the earlier official pictures that angered BMW.

The A3 SUV stands on the same platform as the Brilliance 530 sedan. Engine is the same too: an Mitsubishi-sourced 1.6. Brilliance is working on its own 1.5 turbo but it won’t arrive soon.
