The new Changan BenBen mini car will debut on Friday on the Guangzhou Auto Show, but we couldn’t wait that long and bring you the first pictures from inside the exhibition hall right now. Workers are still building the booth and somebody forgot to cover the cars. The new Changan BenBen will be launched on the China car market just before the end of this year.
Price will range from 40.000 to 60.000 yuan. Power will come from a new 1.4 with 100hp and 136nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. A 1.2 with about 80hp will joint the line-up later. Size: 3730/1650/1530, wheelbase is 2410 and curb weight is 1020kg. Top speed is 156km/h and fuel consumption is 5.6 liter per 100km. The new BenBen is Changan’s answer to the new and already very successful Chery QQ.
How is a 100hp hatchback a QQ competitor…the QQ makes 69hp (optimistically) and has trouble getting out of it’s own way. a 100hp car is head to head with a 1.5vvt Swift or the like. China finally makes a ‘hot hatch’ and it looks good too! Like a Clio!
