New spy shots of the Hyundai ix25 testing in China, looking a bit more ready each time we see it. Still, the Hyundai ix25 is slow coming. The first spy shot date back as far as September 2013 and the production version was expected for debut on the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, but Hyundai came up with a twin-concept instead.
The orange ix25 concept on the Beijing show. The freaky cardboard guy is Do Min Joon, a famous Korean soap opera star who will be the official Hyundai ‘spokesman’ for the ix25. An interesting choice indeed, making us wonder which audience Hyundai is targeting exactly.
They got a real one too, really. Run!
The ix25 is now scheduled for debut on the Chengdu Auto Show in September with a launch on the China car market in October.
The ix25 will be manufactured in China by the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture to compete with cars such as the popular Ford Ecosport and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun. The ix25 is based on the platform of the Kia Soul, which is made in China by the Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia joint venture. Price will start around 140.000 yuan and end around 170.000 yuan.
