Spy Shots showing the upcoming BYD M5 MPV testing in China. The M5, not to be confused with a German sporty sedan with the same name, will debut in April on the Shanghai Auto Show and launch on the Chinese car market soon thereafter.
A leaked patent drawing of the M5, showing a large grille and lights, a panoramic sun roof, and a trendy knick in the D-pillar.
The M5 will be positioned below the long-running M6 MPV. Price will range from about 80.000 to 120.000 yuan. There will be three power trains available: full electric, plug-in hybrid, and petrol. The petrol engine will be a 1.5 turbo with 154hp and 240nm. The plug-in hybrid will have the same power train as the BYD Qin sedan: the 154 1.5 turbo plus and electric motor with 149hp and 200nm, good for a combined output of 303hp and 440nm.
Size: 4680/1800/1655, wheelbase is 2780.
Those yellow wheel covers look very cool but they sadly won’t make it to production,
Rear lights seem small compared to the front lights. Smaller lights are the trend these days, but BYD doesn’t really follow, they somewhat stubbornly continue to fit huge lights on their new cars.
Large mirrors fitted on the doors. Roof rails seem barely usable.
