Chery is going sporty with the brand new Arrizo 5 Sport, based on the pretty but dull Arrizo 5 sedan. The Sport gets a racy front bumper, side skirts, speedy alloys, red brake pads, a big spoiler on the back, and red interior trim.
Happily, the Arrizo 5 Sport gets a proper engine to back up its looks. And it needs to, because all that extra plastic adds weight. The engine is a 1.5 turbo with 144hp and 210nm, mated to a five-speed manual or a CVT. The engine in the base model is a turbo-less 1.5 with only 116hp.
The Sport is cheap; price starts at 76.900 yuan and ends at 97.900 yuan. That is just a bit above the base car which sells for 63.900 – 82.900. Which such a small difference only those who hate spoilers will still go for the base model. But…
How could you possibly hate this?
No chnages on the dashboard. Red trim on doors. Seats in black over red. Red stitching on arm rest.
All good and all fine, but a car called Sport should have a visible exhaust pipe with a fat and shiny end.
