The Geely Galaxy L6 PHEV sedan has been revealed by the Chinese MIIT. It will become the cheapest sedan built on the CMA platform. worth mentioning that it shares the powertrain with the recently launched Galaxy L7 SUV. It means that the Geely Galaxy L6 has up to 390 hp. As for the mixed range of this sedan, it will reach 1,300 km. Let’s get to know it better together.
First, we will remind you of some information about the recently launched Galaxy series. It is a new series of PHEV and BEV cars launched by the Geely Group at the beginning of 2023. On May 31, the Galaxy L7 PHEV SUV became the first Galaxy series vehicle that hit the Chinese market with a sticker price of 19,500 USD. As for the L6 sedan, its official debut is scheduled for July 16th. But it was exposed ahead of schedule by the Chinese Ministry of Industry. Now, we know a lot of valuable information about the Galaxy L6 specs.
Basic information about Geely Galaxy L6
The appearance of the Geely Galaxy L6 has already been exposed by in China. Its exterior is quite minimalistic, with narrow headlights and a closed grille. Here, we should mention that the L6 adopts a PHEV system called NordThor. According to Geely, it has an efficient cooling system that allows it to reduce the grille size by 30%. So, the Galaxy L6 only needs small slots in the front bumper and under the hood for effective cooling. It also helps to reduce the drag coefficient, increasing the range in pure EV mode. Other design features of the Galaxy L6 are retractable door handles and a single taillight element.
The Geely Galaxy L6’s dimensions are 4782/1875/1489 mm with a wheelbase of 2752 mm. So, it is 3 mm shorter, 6 mm wider and 20 mm taller than the Geely Preface, another sedan built on the CMA platform. For clarity, the L6 can be compared with the Hyundai Elantra. The Chinese sedan is 132 mm longer, 50mm wider and 59 mm taller than the Korean one. From the factory, the L6 is equipped with 215/55 R17 or 235/45 R18 wheels, its curb weight is 1750 kg, and the gross weight is 2150. The approach and departure angles are 13 and 17 degrees, respectively.
Galaxy L6 powertrain and price range
The Galaxy L6 is powered by a 1.5-liter BHE15-BFZ. This is a 163 hp turbocharged engine that also powers the Galaxy L7, Lynk & Co 08 and the all-new Geely Preface. It is paired with a 3-speed DHT Pro gearbox and a 146 hp electric motor. The total output of this powertrain reaches 390 hp and 535 Nm. Such a notable power output allows the L6 to speed up to 235 km/h. As for the zero-to-hundred acceleration time, it has yet to be revealed. We expect that the Galaxy L6 will get two battery options: for 9.11 kWh and 18.7 KWh.
The Geely Galaxy L6 will be officially presented tomorrow. Most likely, Geely won’t disclose its price range, but they can announce a blind pre-order for Chinese buyers. As for the official market launch, it is scheduled for September 23. The price range of the L6 should be about of 100,000 – 150,000 yuan (14,020 – 21,040).
