The interior of the Avatr 12 electric sedan from Changan, CATL and Huawei was exposed in China. As one of our readers with a nickname Lich hoped, the 12 hasn’t got the Emotional Vortex ambient lighting element. The interior of this electric beast looks minimalistic and clean, but it still has some interesting features. Let’s get to know it better.

The interior of the Avatr 12 looks quite simple. Its center console has a single floating 15.6-inch screen. What is interesting, it has a row of physical buttons right in the lower part. As for the instrument panel, the Avatr 12 hasn’t got one. Instead, it has a large curved element that goes all the way through the center console. According to some Chinese sources, this element can be the interactive screen that will show information from the active safety functions as well as working as an instrument panel.
The center tunnel of the Avatr 12 has a single air vent, two wireless phone charging pads and a pair of cup holders. As for the gear selector, it sits behind the steering wheel. Speaking about the wheel, it has a sporty rectangular shape and three spokes. Here, we can also underline that the upper part of the 12’s center console is covered with Alcantara leather. And the A-pillar on the driver’s side has a Face-ID sensor which is a high-precision camera. We should also underline that the Avatr 12 has also got a massive windshield.
Other features of the 12’s interior are hidden door handles and a spacious compartment under the center tunnel. As for the rear view camera, it is actually a screen. It is an understandable move since the Avatr 12 hasn’t got an actual rearview mirror. Its function is partly executed by a large panoramic roof. Worth mentioning that the Avatr 12 hasn’t adopted the Emotional Vortex ambient lighting element.
More about the Avatr 12
In case you aren’t familiar with the Avatr 12, we will make a brief introduction. But first, we will remind you that Avatr was a joint venture between Changan and Nio, founded in 2018. Later, Nio withdrew from this JV because of financial problem. Currently, Changan holds 40.99% of shares and CATL owns 17.1%. The rest belong to various investment funds. Hauwei acts here as a key supplier.
Now, let’s move to the Avatr 12. It stands on the EP1 platform and adopts the family exterior design of the Avatr brand. The dimensions of this electric sedan are 5020/1999/1460 mm with a wheelbase of 3020 mm. For an example, it is 50 mm longer and 100 mm lower than its direct competitor, the Zeekr 001 liftback from Geely. In terms of powertrain, the Avatr 12 has got two options. The first one is RWD with 230 kW (313 hp). And the second is 4WD with 425 kW (578 hp). Its battery capacity has yet to be revealed. The Avatr 12 will debut at the Chengdu Auto Show soon.
