Tank is a high-end off-road brand under Great Wall Motor. It was launched in 2021, and now the brand’s model line comprises three vehicles: Tank 300, Tank 400 Hi4-T, and Tank 500. Tank wants to launch two more models next year: 700 and 800 SUVs. The petrol-powered version of the Tank 700 applied for a sales license in January this year. But it didn’t make it to the mass production. It seems that GWM decided to launch it domestically as PHEV-only. And the petrol-powered modification will be sold overseas.

Tank 700 Hi4-T basics

As mentioned, Tank opened pre-sales for the limited version of the 700 Hi4-T at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Its production volume is limited to just 70 units. However, GWM still needed the sales license, even for a small batch. The special edition Tank 700 Hi4-T has a large radiator grille, wide fenders, sporty bumpers, and a rear roof spoiler. Its dimensions are 5110/2122/1986 mm with a wheelbase of 3000 mm.

The Tank 700 is positioned as a hardcore off-roader. But its limited edition’s approach and departure angles aren’t that impressive at 22 and 26 degrees, respectively. It rides on 275/50 R22 or 275/60 R22 wheels. The limited edition has wider front and rear tracks: 1800 and 1813 mm. For comparison, the regular version of the Tank 700 Hi4-T has 1742 and 1757-degree front and rear tracks.

The regular Tank 700 Hi4-T has a more modest exterior styling with a smaller grille and bumpers. Its approach and departure angles are impressive, with 32 and 33 degrees, thanks to short bumpers. The regular version of the Tank 700 Hi4-T rides on 275/50 R22 wheels.

Tank 700 Hi4-T specs

Aside from different exterior styling and front tacks, the limited and mainstream versions of the Tank 700 Hi4-T are similar. The Tank 700 Hi4-T has a curb weight of 3,110 – 3,195 kg. The gross weight reaches 3,630 kilograms. Inside, these SUVs have five seats. The Tank 700 can tow up to 2,500 kg.

Under the hood, the Tank 700 Hi4-T has a 3-liter V6 for 360 hp. It is paired with an e-motor and a 9HAT. The total power output of the Tank 700 powertrain reaches 517 hp. It has a ternary (NMC) battery manufactured by SVOLT, a Great Wall Motor subsidiary. Its capacity has yet to be revealed.

The Tank 700 Hi4-T limited edition costs 700,000 yuan (98,100 USD). But the regular version will offer a more affordable price tag. It will enter the domestic market in 2024.
