On October 13, Dongfeng Voyah’s Courage (known as Zhiyin in Chinese) all-electric SUV officially entered the market, offering four trims, with a price range of 179,900 – 236,900 yuan (25,500 – 33,500 USD). Among them, the long battery life trim is limited to 3,000 units with a 179,900 yuan (25,500 USD) price tag.
The Voyah Courage is built based on the ESSA (Electric Smart Secure Architecture) native intelligent electric architecture, measuring 4725/1900/1636 mm, and the wheelbase is 2900 mm.
Notable design elements include hidden door handles, frameless doors, and arrow style taillight composed of 132 light units, which is highly recognizable.
At the same time, the Voyah Courage offers two front designs for users to choose from, with an option containing 215 LED units and a luminous logo.
Seven exterior body colors are offered.
The Voyah Courage’s NOA (Navigate On Autopilot) driving assistance system is realized via five millimeter-wave radars, 10 cameras, and other sensors. A lidar is not present. Its level 2.9 intelligent driving capabilities include ramp navigation (enter and exit), remote/autonomous parking, and summon.
The interior features a 15.05-inch 2.5K OLED that can slide horizontally, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, as well as a 6-inch instrument panel, 29-inch AR-HUD, and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
There is a small table above the glove box that can slide out longitudinally. The center console supports 50W mobile phone wireless charging and two cupholders.
The standard 527 L trunk storage space can accommodate five 20-inch suitcases, according to Voyah. The volume can be expanded to 1328 L after folding down the rear seats. There is also a hidden 72 L second-layer storage space. There is also a 0.63 m2 panoramic sunroof, 128-color ambient lighting, 18 speakers, a 12-way electrically adjustable driver seat, and an 8-way electrically adjustable co-pilot seat.
The Voyah Courage offers single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD options as well as 400 V and 800 V options. The battery is supplied by CATL.
400 V
- RWD: max power is 215 kW (288 hp), 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 6.8 seconds, 77 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, 625 km range
- AWD: max power is 320 kW (429 hp) – 160 kW (215 hp) for each of the front and rear electric motors, 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 4.9 seconds, top speed is 204 km/h, 77 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, 570 km range
800 V
- RWD: max power is 230 kW (308 hp), 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 6.8 seconds, 79 kWh and 109 kWh ternary lithium battery pack options, corresponding to a 650 km and 901 km range
Furthermore, under the 5C super fast charging technology, charging from 20% to 80% takes 10 minutes and the battery life can increase by 515 km with 15 minutes of charging.
From January to September, Voyah delivered 52,548 vehicles, an increase of 91% year-on-year.
Voyah has been in Europe for several years now, but only with one model; Voyah Free. But only this one model for a long time – and that is not the best marketing. Dealers struggle (Norway). But let’s hope a second model soon, will help.
