The Luxeed R7 EREV fastback crossover from Huawei and Chery, which has up to 1,570 km of range, will officially debut on December 19 in China. It is an SUV the size of the BMW X6 with the third-gen driving assistance system from Huawei and a starting price below 250,000 yuan (34,350 USD).
Luxeed is a joint project between Chery and Huawei. In this cooperation model, Chery is responsible for the platform development and manufacturing. Huawei takes care of the cars’ brains, key components supply, and sales. Luxeed’s current model line comprises two battery-electric cars: the S7 sedan (see specs) and the R7 SUV coupe (see specs).
Among these two models, the Luxeed R7 is a bestselling vehicle. It sold over 11,000 units in November. As extended-range electric vehicles are gaining momentum, Chery & Huawei prepared for the launch of the Luxeed R7’s EREV variant. It will make the public debut on December 19, revealing core specs and price.

The Luxeed R7 EREV variant applied for the sales license in November 2024. It stays in line with the BEV model in terms of styling. The Luxeed R7 is a sleek fastback crossover with thin headlights, retractable door handles, and a slanted roofline. The R7 SUV doesn’t look big due to its minimalistic design. However, it is a bit longer than the BMW X6.
The EREV variant of the Luxeed R7 has a 1.5-liter turbocharged ICE under the hood that acts as a generator. It doesn’t transfer torque to the wheels. Instead, it sends power to a battery and an electric motor. The fuel consumption of the Luxeed R7 EREV with a drained battery reaches 5.68 liters per 100 km. Speaking of a battery, it is a CATL-made LFP pack for 36 kWh. The electric range of the Luxeed R7 EREV is 201 km. The mixed range of the car reaches 1,570 km (CLTC).
There is no information about the drive type and electric motors’ specs of the Luxeed R7 EREV. However, we do know the car will adopt the third-gen Huawei Qiankun ADAS system. As a result, the car will be able to drive autonomously at high speed and on elevated roads across the country and support intelligent parking.
