Chery E3 sedan hits the China car market
The brand new Chery E3 sedan has been launched on the China car market. Price starts at 52.900 yuan and ends at 67.900 yuan. The Chery E3 sits between the upcoming Chery A2 and the Chery A5 in the Chery line-up.
Power comes from a 1.5 Acteco engine with 109hp and 140nm, mated to a five-speed manual. Size: 4450/1748/1493, wheelbase is 2570. Chery is also working on a hatchback variant of the E3 which will debut in late 2014. There is no automatic available which will limit the E3’s appeal, especially among first-car buyers.
Interior just neat enough but beige plastics look very cheap. Big screen however is good. Sporty dials with a blue background, because 109 hp is racy.
The E3 is an important car for the brand, attacking a very competitive market where local Chinese automakers are still rule basically alone. The cheapest cars by foreign brands start around 70.000 yuan.
