The Beijing Auto (Beijing Qiche in Chinese, abbriviated to Beiqi, from Beijing Auto Works, or BAW, a brand from Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation, or BAIC), C70EV concept is based on the Beijing 700 concept that debuted on the 2008 Beijing Auto Show. But a lot has changed, the car is much more developed and now got an interior.

It came as an ‘EV’, electric vehicle, concept but looking at the size it could easily use the old Saab 9-5 platform that BAW recenlty bought from GM. The Saab was at the boot as well, with a new front and called C71. Size of the EV71: 4800x1840x1598. Saab 9-5 (1997-2010)/C70: 4836x1790x1453.

The girl on the right checked the size of all tyres on concept cars and wrote ‘m down in a little note book. I met her a couple of time more but we didn’t become friends. Guess she works for a tyre company.

The eclectric motor, assuming there really is one, has 60kw and 160nm. Numbers seem very low but I got ‘m from BAW, top speed, they say, is 160km/h. Maybe BAW means one of those motors in each wheel, however, they didn’t mention that. Anyway, I think this EV-thing is just marketing so expect an old Saab 2.0T under the hood whenever production starts.
