The new Zeekr compact SUV the size of the Smart #1 was spied in the wild. Its codename is BX1E. It stays on the SEA architecture and will hit the market in 2023. Let’s get acquainted with it.
Zeekr is one of many Geely Group’s projects. It was launched in 2021 as a high-end electric car brand. We will remind you that Geely is also involved in Volvo, Polestar, Geometry, Lynk & Co, Proton, Jidu Auto, Lotus, Radar, Maple, Aston Martin, Daimler, etc. Back to Zeekr, its model line comprises two vehicles. The first one is the Zeekr 001 sporty sedan-coupe, and the second is the Zeekr 009 huge MPV. Previously, Zeekr CEO An Conghui mentioned they will present two more cars: a sedan, and a compact SUV.
Zeekr BX1E Spy Shots
So let’s crack on with the Zeekr BX1E spy shots. It is heavily covered with camouflage, but we still can underline some of its features. First, let’s talk about the body type of the BX1E. We can easily see that the vehicle in spy shots has low ground clearance, a smooth aerodynamic shape, and low-positioned bumpers. The thing is that the BX1E doesn’t look like an SUV. In contrast, it looks more like a hatchback or so. But Zeekr prefers to call it an SUV.
The exterior of the B1XE got two-tiered headlights, charging ports on front fenders, power-folding mirrors, and retractable door handles.
From the side of the BX1E, we can see that it has a lot of space between the B-pillar and the C-pillar. It looks like its second row can be comfortable. But passengers there won’t get too much visibility because of a glass area. The taillight unit of the BX1E goes all the way through the back of the car and finishes on the sides. We can also highlight that its wheels have a unique star-design and Zeekr logo, but they look too small.
The interior of the Zeekr BX1E got the same D-shaped steering wheel and the main screen as the Zeekr 001. Behind the steering we can see a face ID sensor that monitors the driver, and a thin instrument panel screen.
The BX1E Specs
We don’t know specific specs of the Zeekr BX1E, but let’s talk about some basic stuff. It stands on the Geely’s SEA architecture that underpins quite a lot of EVs, including Zeekr 001, Zeekr 009, Lotus Eletre, Jidu ROBO-01, Polestar 3, Radar RD6 and Smart #1.
In terms of size, the BX1E looks really close to the mentioned Smart #1. So its dimensions would likely be around 4.2/1.8/1.6 m. It can also adopt the Smart #1’s powertrain. We will remind you it has two options: 1) single motor rear-wheel drive, 272 hp; 2) dual motor four-wheel drive, 428 hp. Chinese folks say that the BX1E will be positioned higher than the Smart #1. But these two models can still cannibalize each other.
