The 2023 Shanghai Auto Show is scheduled to take place from April 18–27, according to the event organizers. The event, which will take place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), is the 20th edition of the Shanghai Auto Show. For this edition, the theme is “Embracing the New Era of the Auto Industry.”
A breakdown of the activities shows that April 18-19 are designated as media days, April 20-21 are professional visitor’s days, and the general public can gain access from April 22-27.

It is reported that the range of exhibits at the auto show will include: various passenger cars, commercial vehicles, new energy vehicles, and special vehicles. Other exhibits will include new energy technologies and products for automobiles, such as batteries, motors, and electronic controls, among others.
The Shanghai Auto Show is a biennial show and was last held on April 19-28, 2021, with about 1,000 exhibitors. Since then, auto shows have been postponed or outrightly canceled due to Covid outbreaks.
The Beijing Auto Show was canceled in November 2022, while the Chengdu Auto Show ran for only four days of the original 10-day duration.
The Guangzhou Auto Show also suffered at the time but was rescheduled to a later date. However, China relaxed its strict zero-covid policy, allowing the Guangzhou Auto Show to run from December 30 to January 8, 2023.
The Chinese government has now shifted its focus to economic recovery, and Covid is no longer a big issue as it was in the second half of 2022.
Moreover, the Shanghai government unveiled a plan to stabilize economic growth, which supports the resumption of auto exhibitions, including the Shanghai auto show.
Some cars expected to debut at the Shanghai Auto Show include Wey’s new commercial MPV and the Dongfeng Aeolus Haohan SUV.
