Exeed Exlantix ES (Sterra ES) entered China with 905-km range

Exeed Exlantix ES electric sedan has made its market debut in China. Its domestic name is Exeed Sterra ES. It is available in five trim levels for 225,800 – 339,800 yuan (31,600 – 47,550 USD). The top-trim Exlantix ES has 353 kW, suitable for 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.7 seconds. Its long-range version has up to 905 km of range. The Exlantix ES’ international price tag can reach 1 million yuan (140,000 USD), according to Chery‘s chairman Yin Togyue.

Exlantix ES at Geneva Motor Show in Doha

Exlantix is a high-end new energy vehicle series under the Chery-owned Exeed brand. In China, Exlantix models are known under the Sterra name. However, this series was launched internationally under Exlantix’s name at the Geneva Motor Show in Doha. According to CarNewsChina sources, Exlantix will sell overseas as a separate brand positioned one step above Exeed. Its model line will comprise six cars by 2026. In 2024, Exlantix will enter international markets, starting with the Middle East, Russia, and Central Asia.

All you should know about Exeed Exlantix ES

Exeed Exlantix ES is based on the E0X platform developed by Chery. This architecture is designed for EVs and range extenders. The same platform underpins the Luxeed S7 from Chery and Huawei. The exterior design of the Exlantix ES was created by Pier Luigi Ferrari, who previously worked in Pininfarina.

The Exeed Exlantix ES looks like most present-day sedans. It has a sleek roofline, retractable door handles, and a sloped bonnet. Its distinguishing feature is the interactive LED panels in the front called intelligent signal panels (ISD). This feature was first used by HiPhi X CUV. The drag coefficient of the Exeed Exlantix ES is 0.205 Cd, which is better than the Tesla Model S. The exact dimensions of this electric sedan are 4945/1978/1480 mm with a wheelbase of 3000 mm. 

Inside, the Exeed Exlantix ES has a large 15.6-inch floating screen. It also has a two-spoke steering wheel with a digital instrument panel and a gear shifter behind it. The central tunnel features two wireless phone charging pads and a hidden storage niche. The remarkable feature of the Exlantix ES is that it has 23 speakers.

Powertrain and price range

This electric sedan is equipped with air suspension combined with the CDC system. According to the manufacturer, their service life is 300 thousand km. There are several variants regarding the powertrain and price tags of the Exlantis ES.

During the official launch ceremony for the Exeed Exlantix ES, Chery Chairman Yin Tongyao mentioned that the price of this sedan at overseas markets could reach 1 million yuan (140,000 USD). This statement sounded like an attempt to convince the Chinese audience that this sedan’s domestic price is fair.     Is there anywhere a more low profile executive of a major auto manufacturer?
    How did he hold onto this job for so long…through thick and thin?
