Earlier in March, Geely Galaxy announced its first pure electric SUV called “E5”. Recently, the new car was declared on the latest batch of the Chinese MIIT and is expected to enter the market in May with an approximate price range of 150,000 – 200,000 yuan (20,700 – 27,600 USD). The E5 is Geely Galaxy’s fourth model after the L7, L6, and E8.

The design of the Geely Galaxy E5 is inspired by the universe, pursuing traces of light and natural rhythms, according to the brand. Currently, it’s reported that both the left and right-hand drive models are being developed and tested at the same time, and will be exported to the overseas market. Positioned as a compact SUV, the size of the Geely Galaxy E5 is 4615/1901/1670 mm, and the wheelbase is 2750 mm.

Power comes from an electric motor model TZ184XY101 produced by InfiMotion (无锡星驱动力科技有限公司) with a maximum power of 160 kW, paired with lithium iron phosphate battery packs supplied by SVOLT Energy Technology Co., Ltd. The detailed battery and range specifications have not been revealed at this time.

According to the declaration information, the Geely Galaxy E5 also provides optional front bumper, rear radar, black external mirrors, headlights, black brand logo, different styles of front windshields, black decorative strips on window frames, black luggage racks, rims, a front radar, and sunroof designs.

Furthermore, there are two tire options: 225/55R18 and 235/50R19.

On February 19, Geely CEO, Gan Jiayue, announced that Geely Galaxy plans to launch three new energy vehicles this year, including one plug-in hybrid model and two pure electric models. The plug-in hybrid model may be the Geely Galaxy L5, which is expected to launch in the second quarter of this year. In March, the brand sold 10,185 vehicles, a month-on-month increase of 11.7%, making Geely Galaxy’s cumulative sales 38,528 vehicles from January to March this year.
