One of the bestselling Chinese brands, Li Auto, slashed prices of its model line up to 30,000 yuan (4,200 USD), joining the new round of price war in China. The price reduction affects four Li-branded models: L7, L8, L9 and Mega. The price of the recently launched Li L6 crossover remained unchanged.
Li Auto is a Chinese startup founded in 2015. In 9 years, it turned into one of the bestselling Chinese brands domestically by selling over 370,000 cars in 2023. Its current model line comprises five high-end cars. Four are EREV (extended range electric vehicle) crossovers: L6, L7, L8 and L9. The fifth is the electric minivan, Mega. The recently launched Li L6 gathered 10,000 orders in 72 hours. Now, Li Auto wants to strengthen its market position again by slashing its models’ prices.
Li Auto cuts prices in China
The price of the entry-level Li Auto L7 Pro trim level was slashed by 10,000 yuan (1,400 USD). The L7 Max and L7 Ultra trims have become 20,000 yuan (2,800 USD) cheaper. The price range of the Li Auto L7 is 301,800 – 359,800 yuan (41,650 – 49,650 USD). It is a mid-to-large crossover with five seats and dimensions of 5050/1995/1750 mm. It has a 1.5-liter ICE under the hood that supplies energy to the battery and two e-motors with a combined power output of 330 kW (443 hp).
The price of the Li L8 Pro trim was also reduced by 10,000 yuan (1,400 USD). Other trim levels are now 20,000 yuan (2,800 USD) cheaper. The price range of the L8 is 321,800 – 379,800 yuan (44,450 – 52,450 USD). The Li L8 is a 6-seat SUV with 5080/1995/1800 mm dimensions. Its powertrain is similar to the L7.
The price tag of each trim of the Li Auto L9 was reduced by 20,000 yuan (2,800 USD). Its current price range is 409,800 – 439,800 yuan (56,600 – 60,700 USD). It is a full-size crossover with six seats and hefty dimensions of 5218/1998/1800 mm. Its powertrain is also similar to the L7.
The brand’s flagship minivan, Mega, became 30,000 yuan (4,200 USD) cheaper. It is available for purchase in a single trim level for 529,800 yuan (73,150 USD). Previously, Chinese car enthusiasts complained that the Li Mega’s price was too high. This MPV’s dimensions are 5350/1965/1850 mm. Its powertrain is represented by dual-motor 4WD for 400 kW (536 hp). It is powered by a 102.7-kWh battery, good for a 710 km range.
