MG has revealed the Cyber X, an all-electric concept SUV, at the Shanghai Auto Show in China. This is the second model in the brand’s Cyber series, following the MG Cyberster, which launched in November 2023.
The Cyber X features a boxy body design and a matte-black exterior. One notable design element is the pop-up headlights, which emerge when in use and retract into the body when turned off.
Cyber X was created by a Slovak veteran of automotive design, Jozef Kabaň. He previously worked at Volkswagen, BMW or Rolls-Royce, before joining SAIC in April 2024, where he is responsible for MG brand design.
The SUV has smoked black A- and B-pillars, giving it a floating roof effect when viewed from the side. It also comes with silver and black two-tone five-spoke wheels. The cockpit and connectivity were developed with smartphone maker Oppo.
MG, originally a British automaker, is now owned by China’s SAIC Motor. The company has not yet released technical specifications or pricing details for the Cyber X. CarNewsChina has learned that the car is expected to launch next year.
MG plans to release eight new electric vehicle (EV) models in the next two years, including a large SUV, sedans, and sports cars. In 2025, MG confirmed that it will launch two additional models, aside from the Cyber X: a larger 5-seater SUV and a compact electric sedan.
In March, MG unveiled the new MG4 as its first global EV. It is a small hatchback that will launch in Q2 in China and arrive in Europe later this year.
MG sold 10,000 cars in China in March, up 82.6% from last year.
