IM LS7 debuted in China, received 3000 orders in the first hour

On December 20, IM Motors unveiled the IM LS7 in China. The pre-booking started and the price ranges between 350,000 Yuan to 500,000 Yuan (52,000 to 74,000 USD). It is the second model from IM Motors after IS L7. The brand positions the car as a medium-to-large pure electric five-seater SUV. It will be officially launching in China in the half of February 2023. The vehicle has bagged over 3000 pre-booking within an hour of opening booking in China.

IM Motors is an electric vehicle joint venture between SAIC Motor, Chinese technology companies Zhangjiang Hi-Tech and Alibaba Group. In 2021, they unveiled the concept vehicle of LS7 at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show. On the front, it adopts a closed front face design, and the headlights on both sides are in an “L” shape. It gets all-LED lights inside the headlights. The LS7 also gets three proper vents and LED daytime running lights on both sides. IM Motors also adds through-type vents to increase the lateral visual width. The vehicle follows the design language of previous IM Motor vehicles.

The lines of LS7 are relatively smooth, and there is no excessive rib design on the sides of the body. In terms of body size, the new car’s length, width and height are 5049/2002/1731 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 3060 mm. On the top, it has equipment for IM’s Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS). It has a high-resolution camera and lidar units.

It gets a large-sized integrated spoiler on the rear of the car. The taillights adopt a through-type design, and the rear also adopts a double-layer design with a wrapped rear diffuser style to enhance the sportiness. 

LS7 Interior

On the interior, the LS7 features a triple screen design including an LCD instrument panel, central control screen and a display for co-pilot display. It is the first mass-produced vehicle in China with a half-width steering wheel. IM Motors also provides an option to choose a full-width steering wheel. It also has a large-sized panoramic sunroof and 360-degree parking cameras.

The LS7 will be equipped with a new smart cockpit 2.0 with the IMOS2.0 version. It will be available in two battery versions of 90kWh and 100kWh. The 90kWh will be built by a joint venture between SAIC and CATL. The 100kWh+ variant with single motor RWD has a CLTC cruising range of 660 km. The dual-motor four-wheel drive version has 425 kW (650 hp) power output and a peak torque of 725 Nm. It offers a CLTC cruising range of 615 km and only takes 4.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.
