The Lynk & Co 08 SUV-coupe rolled off the production line in China. It has already hit pre-sales with a starting price tag of 218,000 yuan (29,890 USD). The full name of this vehicle is Lynk & Co 08 EM-P. The ‘EM-P’ part here means it is a plug-in hybrid with 220 km of electric CLTC range, 593 hp and a mixed range of up to 1,400 km.
Lynk & Co 08 EM-P production started in China
The mass-production of the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P has officially started at the brand’s factory in Ningbo, Meishan. The construction of this plant began in 2017 with a total investment of 10 billion yuan (1,37 billion USD). Its total area reaches 760,000 square meters. In November 2022, the 800,000th Lynk & Co vehicle was built here. It was the Lynk & Co 09 PHEV. It is interesting that the Meishan factory is located just 1 km away from the seaside. This location was picked because of the brand’s exporting intentions. The only model that Lynk & Co exports overseas, the Lynk & Co 01, is manufactured here.
We will also remind you that Lynk & Co has one more factory in Zhangjiakou. Here, Lynk & Co manufactures 02, 02 Hatchback, 03 and 03+ models. Meanwhile, the Meishan factory is responsible for the production of 01, 06, 08 and 09 models.
Back to the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P, it has hit the production line. As we can see in pictures, the first Lynk & Co 08 EM-P is finished in a green color, the press shade of Lynk & Co that was used in promo materials and the first official images. Moreover, the first vehicle that rolled off the production line is actually the top trim level car. We can tell it by 21-inch rims. Moreover, Lynk & Co has shared when the 08 EM-P will start deliveries in China. They are scheduled for September 8.
Briefly on Lynk & Co 08
The Lynk & Co 08 is a fastback SUV that adopts the design language that was introduced by the Lynk & Co The Next Day concept-car. Speaking about the dimensions of the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P, they are 4820/1915/1685 mm with a wheelbase of 2848 mm. So, in terms of sizing, it stays close to the BMW X4. According to Lynk & Co, the 08 EM-P stands on the all-new platform called CMA Evo. In fact, it is a slightly reworked architecture that underpins Volvo XC40, every Lynk & Co model (except Lynk & Co 09 and Lynk & Co 06) and a bunch of Geely branded cars.
The powertrain of the Lynk & Co 08 has a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and three electric motors. Of course, the 08 is a 4WD vehicle. Its total power output reaches 436 kW (593 hp), as for the peak torque, it is 905 Nm. As a result, the Lynk & Co 08 can speed up from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. It has a ternary (NMC) 39.6-kWh battery on board, good for 245 lm of CLTC range in pure electric mode. As for the mixed range, it reaches 1,400 km. The price range of the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P is 218,000 – 278,000 yuan (29,890 – 38,120 USD).
