The Voyah Free 318 EREV crossover (see specs) from Dongfeng entered the Chinese market with a starting price of 228,900 yuan (31,550 USD). Its key feature is a 43-kWh battery suitable for 318 km of electric CLTC range. Voyah claims the Free is the EREV with the longest electric range. Its top-trim variant offers air suspension and 4WD for 483 hp.
Voyah is a high-end new energy vehicle brand under Dongfeng Motor, founded in 2018. Its first model to enter the market was the Free SUV assembled in the Wuhan plant. Nowadays, Voyah sells its cars in China and overseas. Its current model line comprises three vehicles: the Free crossover, Dream minivan, and Passion sedan. Today, Voyah launched a new variant of the Free SUV called 318.
Voyah Free 318 exterior and interior
In terms of styling, the Voyah Free 318 stays in line with the “ultra long-range intelligent driving” version launched in August last year. Its front end has a blackened radiator grille, a sporty front bumper with vertically aligned air intakes and headlights joined by an LED strip. From the back, it has sporty spoiler and a glossy trim on the rear bumper. Other features of the Voyah Free 318 are retractable door handles and two design variants of R20 wheels.
Inside, the Voyah Free 318 is also similar to the 2023 model-year car. Its center console has a single cluster made of three independent screens. It has a D-shaped three-spoke steering wheel with a gear shifter mounted on the steering column. The center tunnel of the Free SUV has two wireless phone charging pads and two cup holders.
However, there is something new about the Voyah Free 318. First, it has new Gray and Green exterior colors. Second, it offers two interior shades: Black and Black-Gray. The Free 318 also has sporty front seats with integrated headrests. Another feature of this SUV is an advanced voice control function. And the final feature is double-glazed second-row glasses.
Voyah Free 318 specs
The Voyah Free 318 is a mid-to-large SUV with five seats inside. Its exact dimensions are 4905/1950/1645 mm, and its wheelbase is 2960 mm.
Its entry-level model has a single e-motor on the rear axle with a peak power of 200 kW (268 hp) and 410 Nm torque. This model can speed up from zero to a hundred in 7.6 seconds. A ternary NMC battery from CATL powers this e-motor. Its capacity reaches 43 kWh, which is suitable for a range of 318 km (CLTC). Voyah claims it is the longest range among all EREV cars. Under the hood, the Free 318 has a 1.5-liter ICE that powers the battery. Its mixed range reaches 1458 km.
The top-trim Voyah Free 318 has dual-motor 4WD and 483 hp. It can speed up to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The battery is the same, but the range number is smaller due to higher energy consumption (23.1 kWh/100km against 20.5 kWh/100km). It is capable of running up to 259 km. The mixed range is 1357 km. This variant also has air suspension. Thanks to this feature, the driver can increase the ground clearance by 100 mm.
