There is a lot of hype surrounding the new Volvo S90 sedan. Time thus for a look at the old one, and here we have a perfect black example, Spotted in China near a Volvo dealer near the incredible Sanhe Classic Car Museum in the great city of Chengdu. The owner of the museum also owns the Volvo shop.
Today in China Car History one of the most beautiful cars in the world. This is the mighty 1959 Hongqi CA72 Parade Car, seen in the Sanhe Classic Car Museum in the great city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province. The Hongqi CA72 Parade Car was based on the equally mighty Hongqi CA72 sedan.
Parade cars were, and still are, used to parade head-of-states and high ranking official through town during visits of inspection tours. The dignitary would wave to the crowd that was lined-up along the streets waving flags and showing happy faces.
Here we have a brilliant blue Shanghai SH760 sedan, seen in the Sanhe Classic Car Museum in the great city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province. The SH760 was the predecessor of the Shanghai SH760A that we saw earlier on. The SH760 was made from 1964 to 1974, this particular example was made in 1972. As you can see it was outside the actual museum hall for maintenance, this oldie still sees the road now and then, rented out for festivities and such more.
This is a brilliant Hongqi CA773, seen in the Sanhe Classic Car Museum where it was parked next to the Hongqi CA72 we saw earlier. The Hongqi (Red Flag) CA773 was made from 1969 until 1976, in seven years 291 cars were produced and for Hongqi that is mass production.
When walking to the Sanhe Classic Car Museum on the premises of the Sanhe Dealer Group in Chengdu I passed by a rather anonymous building. Those for sure are always the most interesting so I took a look inside… It happened to be a work place where various vehicles from Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini were maintained and made ready for delivery. It was indeed, an amazing club of cars.
Here we have a very rare and extremely beautiful Hongqi CA 72 state limousine, seen in the secret garage of the Sanhe Classic Car Museum in the great city of Chengdu. The CA 72 was made from 1959 until 1965 when it was replaced by the much better known Hongqi CA770. In 6 years only 198 vehicles were made, making this one of the rarest Hongqi’s of all. Hongqi (Red Flag) also made four parade cars based on the CA 72, bringing the total production number to 202.
A brilliant blue Shanghai SH760A, seen in the secret garage of the Sanhe Classic Car Museum in the great city of Chengdu. The Shanghai SH760A sedan, made in various forms by the Shanghai Auto Works, now SAIC, from 1974 until 1980 when it was replaced by the SH760B, which continued all da way until 1991 in basically the same shape as the SH760A.
Last week I was a couple of days in the great city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province. Very busy with such and such but I managed to sneak out for a few hours for a visit to the fantastic Sanhe Classic Car Museum. The ‘Sanhe Group‘ is a major car dealer in Chengdu, selling, among others, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Rolls-Rolls. The group also has a small department which ‘rebuilds’ classic cars and that is what the museum is all about. Beautiful old cars, restored to the absolute max…
