Shopping for some Super Cars in Chengdu, China

When walking to the Sanhe Classic Car Museum on the premises of the Sanhe Dealer Group in Chengdu I passed by a rather anonymous building. Those for sure are always the most interesting so I took a look inside… It happened to be a work place where various vehicles from Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini were maintained and made ready for delivery. It was indeed, an amazing club of cars.
Chengdu is the capital of western Sichuan Province, it is one of the most important cities in China’s west, a transportation and trade hub and political center. Some 15 million people live in the city and surrounding areas. It has also become a very rich city in a very short time. Up until 5 years ago there was barely anyone in Chengdu who could even dream of buying a super car. Today however all the big brands have dealers in town. Sanhe represents Aston Maritn, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini and Bentley, which likely had its work shop somewhere else.
Lime-green Gallardo with the front-bumper gone. Roads outside the city can still be dangerous… I asked how much cars they sold. One mechanic told me it was some 10 Astons, 5 Rollers and 3 Lambo’s each month. That’s only in Chengdu. China indeed will be the world’s number one market for super cars very soon. It is already the biggest market for Ferrari, second for Lambo and Bentley and third for Rolls-Royce.
Well, you choose: white or black?
When I took this picture I was kicked out by some manager. Not sure why. The didn’t mind me taking all the other pics. The Roller on the left seems to have a problem with its front-suspension, maybe that was a thing I was not allowed to see… I didn’t see it!
