A wondrous white E38 BMW 740 iL, Spotted in China in the Dongba area in the far east of Beijing. The beautiful Bimmer was in a very good condition and clearly still used as a daily driver. Paint looked good, no rust in sight, and all parts were firmly in place. It was sure dusty and dirty but so are all cars in the capital.

The iL was the stretched variant of the regular E38 7-Series, extended by 14 centimeters for more space in the back. The The E38 was made from 1994 until 2001 with a facelift in 1998, this is a pre-facelifted car. The E38 was the first BMW 7-series that was officially exported to China. Sales were very slow because at the time almost nobody could afford such an expensive limousine. Most went to hotels and some to state owned companies. Today most are in private hands.

The interior was in top condition too. The original car phone sits proudly in the arm rest. Leather looks only slightly worn. Radio is original.  The 740 iL is powered by a big 4.4 liter V8 with 367hp and 420nm, good for an impressive 240km/h top speed. Fast Seven!
