A mellow yellow C6 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe, seen in the great city of Wenzhou in Zhejiang Province. The Corvette is a very rare car to find in China because GM doesn’t sell it on the Chinese car market. The gray market steps in and that is how some Vette’s arrive on Chinese shores. Price however is very high, ranging from 1.3 to 1.6 million yuan. That is 208.000 to 257.000 USD.

Sunday is a good day for dirty cars! This is a C4 Chevrolet Corvette, seen in the great ‘n cold city of Shenyang in Liaoning Province. The Corvette C4 was made from 1984 until 1996 and never officially exported to China. Fortunately the gray market managed to get some Vettes in the country, we met:a C4 Convertible and a red C4 Coupe. This particular green example seems a post-facelift car, made from 1991 until 1996 and powered by the 300hp LT1 5.7 liter V8 engine.

An extremely rare C4 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible, seen in Shanghai by our good friend Leo Yang. The C4 was made from 1983 until 1996, the convertible from 1986 until 1996. The C4 Corvette was never officially exported to China so the chances of meeting one are very small.

Seen on the premises of the film academy in northern Beijing, a very fine lime-green Chery QQ in front of an even better very red Chevrolet Corvette C4. An interesting combination of automobiles indeed! The Corvette C4 was never officially sold in China but this example had a license plate and a 2012 insurance sticker. I doubt it was imported by a diplomat, a movie hotshot with friends in the right places seems more likely.
