The first EV under Nio’s new mass-market brand, codenamed Alps, leaked in China without camouflage. The spy shots revealed a coupe-SUV with an N-shaped logo and English letters ONVO. The model codename was DOM; spy shots reveal it will be called L60.
Nio didn’t officially confirm the name of its new brand. However, the Onvo logo was leaked last year when Nio patented the name. The Chinese name is 乐道 (Ledao). Local media published a screenshot of Nomi, Nio’s in-car assistant, confirming the new name.
Onvo L60 will sit on the new NT3 platform and feature a swappable battery. The powertrain hasn’t been revealed yet, but CarNewsChina expects it will have a single rear-wheel-drive motor. The battery capacity is also unknown – all Nio cars on the market have a 75 kW or 100 kW option. As Onvo will be a mass-market brand, it will most likely offer lower-capacity packs. Chinese outlet Autohome speculates the packs might be 60 kWh and 90 kWh.
Based on spy shots, we can see there are two high-definition cameras on the sides of the windshield; the lidar is missing.
Onvo will focus on the 200,000 – 300,000 yuan (27,800 – 41,700 USD) market segment, positioned right under Nio-badged cars. William Li, Nio’s founder and CEO, revealed that Onvo will be unveiled in the second quarter, launched in the third quarter, and deliveries will start in the fourth quarter.
In 2025, Nio will launch another brand, codenamed Firefly, positioned under Onvo and focusing on small cars for the European market. The first EV under the Firefly brand was recently spotted roadtesting in heavy camo. It will compete against VW ID.3, Zekr X, or BYD Yuan UP.
Onvo will have its own independent sales network, and after-sales will be shared with current Nio’s aftersales system. Onvo L60 will take on the Tesla Model Y, and Li even appealed to customers who want to purchase the Tesla SUV to wait for the Onvo L60 launch. CarNewsChina previously published spy shots of the new Onvo in camouflage with the writing on the rear windshield saying “Better than Model Y.”
William Li also previously announced that the Alps/Onvo first SUV will be 10% cheaper than Model Y while featuring additional comforts such as a refrigerator, TV, or large sofas.
Tesla Model Y body, BMW X4 tail lights and Polestar head lights. Blend is an understatement.
Suprpising, considering that they do their design work in Germany. I expected a more unique “Alps” design identity, lik NIO’s, but different. Maybe it is really tough not to take influence from others if you don’t want it to look like shit… I have no idea.
Well I guess the key factor will be the price. The battery swap technology is without a doubt a big plus. An entry model + the possibility to lease the battery and swap it…no other brand offers such product.
Battery swap is not making a difference. Batteries getting faster to charge every year.
So disappointed in the camera bumps.
It actually looks worse than on my ET5.
It looks like horns of a calf. At least on my ET5 they can pretend that the lidar in the middle is similar to an F1 horn.
The rest of the design looks absolutely beautiful but Nio has to stop with these ridiculous bumps.

Remarkably worse than on my ET5.

A “coupe SUV”…that description is a stretch.
How about just ole hatchback?
