Only days away from the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, Avatr Technology President Chen Zhuo teased a new Avatr 11 SUV variant that will be launched at the show. The teaser images indicate the new variant has the same fluorescent gold found on the Avatr 12, released last month. One of the images teases the new SUV paint color and mentions that both Avatr models have won the Reddot Design Award 2024 from Germany.

The new Avatr 11’s exterior has no significant changes from the teaser images. It still features the iconic design of separate LED daytime running lights and headlights. Avatr 11 uses high-def cameras, replacing traditional rear-view mirrors and removing the need for a rear window.

Avatr was initially established in 2018 by Changan New Energy and Nio. However, due to financial reasons, Nio withdrew from the joint venture. In place of Nio, CATL joined the project and now holds a 17% stake. Changan holds 40% of the shares, with the remaining shares owned by various investment funds. Huawei serves as the primary supplier. Avatr’s product lineup includes the Avatr 11 SUV and the Avatr 12 hatchback.

According to the company, Avatr 11 SUV owners clocked over 50 million kilometers with its NOA (Navigation on AutoPilot), translating to 24% of the total driving distance. Smart parking has recorded over 5 million cumulative uses, averaging over 10,000 per day. This indicates the stability of the Avatr 11’s technology and acceptance among Avatr owners.

The Avatr 11 enhances the driving experience with its 34 sensors and Huawei’s ADS 2.0 system for intelligent driving. It features three LiDARs for all-weather perception and urban driving navigation independent of maps, enhancing safety and convenience.

The interior uses a combination of nappa leather and suede material. The 15.6-inch central control screen supports split-screen functionality and can display navigation, games, and videos. A window from this screen can be moved to the co-pilot screen. Voice commands from the co-pilot are recognized. The full LCD instrument panel is 10.25 inches. Avatr President Chen Zhuo also teased an audio system upgrade in the new variant, which has been a year in the making.

Huawei’s DriveONE powertrain offers single or dual motors with 230 kW to 425 kW power, 370 Nm to 650 Nm torque, and 0-100 km/h in 3.9 to 6.6 seconds. Battery options are 90 kWh or 116 kWh, with fast 750V charging.
