In the run up to the likely launch of the Avatr 07 in the third quarter we now have new spy shots of the interior. The new SUV will be Avatr most affordable model to date and should be priced in the region of 250,000 to 350,000 yuan (34,500 – 48,300 USD).
We already know what the exterior looks like thanks to official unveiling shots along with subsequent uncamouflaged pictures and publicity images. The new interior spy shots are not much better than the previous shot we saw but crucially we now have a picture of the rear bench as well as the front.
Although still heavily camouflaged we can make out the general Avatr family look of the interior. There is a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel along with a large center infotainment screen. Unfortunately the rear shots provides us with little information other than that the Avatr 07 has a flat floor.
Little is currently known about the interior specifications but the Avatr 07 will use Huawei’s HarmonyOS to run the cockpit functions. The car will also come with Huawei intelligent driving ADAS system and comes equipped with Lidar.
Despite being the smallest Avatr to date the car is still quite large measuring in at 4825, 1980 and 1620 (l/w/h) while using a 2940 mm wheelbase. The car rides on 21-inch wheels. It will be available as both a full EV and as a range extended EV with dual and single motor versions available of each.
Rear-wheel drive fully electric versions use a 252 kW motor with all-wheel drive versions adding a 188 kW motor to the front axle. In the case of the rear motor it’s from Changan’s Deepal brand whereas the front one is from Chongqing Tsingshan Industrial. Top speed is 200 km/h.
The range extended version has a lower top speed of 190 km/h and uses less powerful electric motors. A 115 kW 1.5 liter engine from Changan acts as the range extender. Meanwhile, there is a 231 kW motor on the rear axle and in the case of the all-wheel drive an additional 131 kW motor on the front. Battery capacity for the EREV is reported to be 39 KWh giving up to 188 km all electric range.
Avatr started out as a joint venture between Changan and Nio. After Nio withdrew due to financial problems battery producer CATL joined the brand. Currently Changan holds 41% ownership, CATL 14%, Chongqing Chengan Foundation 11% and the remainder spread over various investment groups. Huawei is not a shareholder but provides much of the tech including the HarmonyOS operating system for the cockpit and Huawei’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Huawei’s self-driving system is one of the most advanced in China.
The Avatr 07 was originally referred to by its codename Avatr 15 and we know that another new car the E16 is testing and should launch around the end of this year. Whereas the Avatr 07 is meant to compete with the Tesla Model Y the new car, a sedan, is aimed at the Model 3.
