The BYD Seal 06GT prototype will be unveiled at the 2024 Chengdu Auto Show says Zhang Zhuo, GM of the marketing division of BYD’s Ocean network. This year’s Chengdu Auto Show starts August 30 and it’s expected that the car will also start pre-sales at the same time. Following this, the car should launch in mid to late September, with deliveries starting at the same time. International sales are likely to start in 2025.
Although the car is currently being referred to as the Seal 06GT, other names that have been registered include Seal MINI, Seal 05EV and Seal X. And so, it is possible that BYD may surprise us at Chengdu with a late name change. The car is a production version of the Ocean M concept, which was shown at this year’s Beijing Auto Show in April. It’s important as a pivot car underlying BYD’s shift from concentrating on the domestic market to becoming a more international-focused company.
At the front, the Seal 06GT has a similar yet distinct look to the existing Seal EV. It is, though, considerably shorter, with dimensions of 4630, 1880, and 1490 mm and a wheelbase of 2820 mm. From the interior spy shots, it seems that the car is also similar inside to the Seal EV. There are sports seats in front and a floating central screen on the dashboard, along with an LCD instrument panel.
So far, the hatchback has been spotted testing in blue, black, green, and orange, suggesting there are at least four different color options. According to the spec level the car gets either 18 or 19-inch wheels.
Base models get a rear-mounted 160KW electric motor and a 59.52 kWh battery pack. This gives the Seals 06 GT a CLTC range of 505 KM. Higher spec versions gain a 165 kW electric motor and have the battery pack increased in size to 72.96 kWh, giving a range of 605 km. Finally, there is a dual motor version which uses a 200 kW electric motor on the rear axle and a 110 kW motor on the front. This version also uses the 72.96 kWh battery pack and has a range of 550 km. The batteries are BYD’s lithium iron phosphate blade battery from its subsidiary FinDreams.
Like the Sea Lion 07 and the updated Seal EV the Seal 06GT uses the BYD e-platform 3.0 Evo. Featuring 800 V architecture the platform allows super fast charging. It will also likely feature the same 12-in-1 electric drive system with a 23,000 rpm electric motor and possibly have DiSus-C continuous damping control suspension.
The new model is expected to fit in between the BYD Dolphin and Seal with the hatchback and is likely priced in the 150,000 to 200,000 yuan (20,900 – 27,900 USD) range.

Perhaps this an atto replacement 06gt, seal a d sea lion to complete the line up.
If this one comes with 550 WLTP and price of atto i would totally go for it
If it had the same motors as the Seal Performance delivering 390 kW, this would be an instant purchase for me. It’s still too long for my liking, but otherwise is just the kind of car I’m looking for.
