Huawei and JAC aim to sell 35,000 units of their jointly developed Maextro sedan with a price tag of around 1 million yuan (140K USD). Its volume production will start later this year. The official market launch is scheduled for the H1 2025. This luxury sedan was recently spotted in China once again.
Maextro is a new brand from Huawei and JAC created for Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) car sales network. HIMA already sells cars from three brands: Aito (Huawei & Seres), Luxeed (Huawei & Chery), and Stelato (Huawei & BAIC). Soon, the Maextro brand will accompany them with a luxurious sedan as its first model.

Previously, it was rumored that the first product from JAC and Huawei would be a high-end minivan. But their first product appeared to be a large sedan aimed at wealthy businessmen. In July 2024, Huawei’s smart car unit chairman Richard Yu said that the first Maextro model would exceed the level of Maybach and Rolls-Royce.
Recently, the Maextro sedan was spotted in China during road tests. In spy shots, we can see it has vertically aligned elements in the front bumper. However, its headlights align with other HIMA models in terms of shape. The Maextro sedan has frameless side-view mirrors and doors. Its other features are hidden door handles and large rims.
The overall body shape of the Maextro sedan looks like a generic Chinese NEV sedan. It has the same outline as Nio ET7, BYD Han, Voyah Passion, etc. The decrease of air drag is the main reason for this exterior styling. There is a LiDAR sensor on the Maextro’s roof. We would like to highlight the impressive length of the Huawei-JAC sedan’s second-row doors. The rear end of the sedan was previously seen in China. It has a single taillight unit and a long overhang.
Maextro sedan specs and more project details
According to previously leaked JAC’s product planning, the Maextro sedan stands on the JAC’s X6 platform. Its body length is around 5200 mm. And the wheelbase is around 3200 mm. It will have ADAS and infotainment systems from Huawei.
Maextro sedan will be assembled at the JAC’s newly constructed factory. Its mass production is scheduled for this year. According to JAC’s leaked documents, it aims to produce 35,000 units of the Maextro 140K USD sedan per year. The overall production capacity of the plant reaches 200,000 units, hinting at more JAC-Huawei cars to follow. More on the Maextro project as we get it.
P.S. JAC was a previous contract manufacturer of Nio cars in China. However, Nio acquired F1 and F2 plants in late 2023, and started producing cars on its own.
